Carlsbad is a city of around 112,299 people and it’s a part of San Diego County in California. It’s 87 miles from Los Angeles and 35 Miles North of San Diego. What makes Carlsbad interesting is that most of the locals call it the Village by the Sea. It’s a very popular tourist destination and it features one of the nation’s top 20 wealthiest communities. The median household income here is around $105,000. That makes it the fifth richest city in California.

Carlsbad history started with the Luiseno people, natives that lived in this region for centuries. The first European land exploration that arrived here was in 1769 and since then the city went through a Spanish and also a Mexican conqueror period. During the 1880s a former sailor dug a well in the area, then a train station was created and soon the city was established.

Since then Carlsbad got an airport named the Palomar Airport. The city also has the first modern skateboard park which was built in 1976. Of course this has led to many sports injuries involving damaged feet for which podiatrists such as Dr. Berthelsen have cared.

On top of that, here you can also find Legoland California, not to mention you can find the largest desalination plant in the entire country here as well. These are all incredible achievements for a city of Carlsbad’s size.

The climate here is semi-arid Mediterranean. Here we have mild winters, and most of the time summer is very pleasant. It’s rain-free place most of the time, and that makes it one of the best tourist destination. You can focus on checking out many of the landmarks and places that can be found in this region.

There are some top schools in the region, like the Carlsbad Unified School District, the Carlsbad High School and so on. You can also find some private schools here like the Army and Navy Academy, as well as the Beautiful Saviour Lutheran Elementary School, the Academy by the Sea and Pacific Ridge School.

If you want some great activities, you can find the Carlsbad state beach and the South Carlsbad state beach in here. Carlsbad is also a great place for golfing and you can visit the local museums too if you want to have a good time. The Flower Fields feature giant ranunculus and orchids, so you are bound to enjoy your time here.

It’s easy to see that Carlsbad is a fun place to visit (and live). Aside from being known for its wealthy neighborhoods, a lot of people come here to unwind, relax and enjoy the scenery. If you happen to be a resident of Carlsbad and are in need of a podiatrist, then give Dr. Berthelsen’s office a call to schedule an appointment. You won’t be disappointed!
