Our Podiatry Practice

Foundation Foot & Ankle is proud to serve the North San Diego County Region: Vista, Oceanside, Carlsbad, San Marcos and Encinitas. We are located next to Tri-City Hospital at the Vista Medical Plaza. It is our goal to provide you with excellent foot, ankle, heel and toe care. We pride ourselves on listening to your needs and working as a team to find solutions for your condition.

​Dr. Berthelsen is originally from the Midwest, Lincoln, Nebraska. He graduated medical school from Des Moines University: College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. He then completed a rigorous foot and ankle reconstructive surgical residency at the Loma Linda Veterans Hospital in Loma Linda, CA. He is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, American Podiatric Medical Association, and Pi Delta Podiatric Honor Society. Dr. Berthelsen enjoys all aspects of foot and ankle care. He has extensive experience in complex reconstructive surgery, diabetic wound care (limb preservation), foot and ankle pain plus sports medicine.

​Dr. Berthelsen enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons. His family recently welcomed their second baby boy in March 2018. He also enjoys surfing around the local Carlsbad breaks in his free time.
